Currently, the defogging technology of household mirrors mainly uses electric heating defogging, which is also the mainstream technology in the industry. A few low-end products use anti fog coatings, and the principle, effect, and service life of the two are greatly different. When choosing, it is necessary to carefully distinguish between them.
Firstly, explain the principle of mainstream electric heating defogging: a flexible heating film is pasted on the back of the mirror lamp, and the heating film is connected to the built-in temperature control circuit and power supply. After being powered on, the heating film uniformly heats up, raising the overall temperature of the mirror surface above the ambient water vapor temperature. When water vapor in the air comes into contact with the mirror surface, it cannot condense into water droplets due to cold, thus achieving the effect of anti fogging and defogging. The heating film of the regular defogging mirror lamp is made of carbon fiber material, which heats up evenly and steadily without local overheating. It is also equipped with a temperature controller, which automatically shuts off the power for insulation when the temperature reaches the set threshold. The coverage area of the heating film determines the defogging effect. Distinguishing the advantages and disadvantages of defogging mirror lights can be judged from three dimensions: first, look at the coverage area of the heating film, where full coverage of the entire piece is better than partial small pieces; Secondly, looking at the temperature control system, styles with automatic constant temperature and overheating protection are safer, while simple heating films without temperature control pose risks of glass explosion and circuit overload; The third consideration is insulation protection. Multiple layers of waterproof insulation must be applied between the heating film and the circuit to prevent electrical leakage in damp bathroom environments. Legitimate brand defogging mirror lights will clearly indicate the defogging power. The defogging power of a single household mirror light is generally between 30-80W, with moderate power and low power consumption. It can be used in standby mode all day without causing high electricity bills.
There are multiple precautions for daily use. Firstly, it is recommended to activate the defogging function in advance. Power on and preheat 5-10 minutes before showering, and the mirror surface will heat up in advance for the best defogging effect; Continuous power on during the shower process is sufficient without the need for repeated switching. Secondly, it is prohibited to directly wash the mirror surface with cold water while the mirror lamp is powered on for heating. The huge temperature difference can cause the glass to instantly expand and contract, resulting in cracks or even explosions, which is the most dangerous operation. Fourthly, the defogging module is an electrical component.
